Destination NYC Wholesale Shopping Tour: April 19th-21st

image via Urban Renewal Consignment

It’s no secret that New York is one of our favorite destinations here at The Shopping Co.! Our Wholesale Shopping Tours are a great opportunity to network with and gain ideas and inspiration from amazing boutique owners and entrepreneurs from all over the country. Not only do we teach the ins and outs of wholesale buying in a guided tour, we also take a cue from the Big Apple itself, making time to explore and learn from one of the best urban style pools and shopping districts in the world!

It’s a busy 3 days (especially for us – your guides!), which is why we make the most of our downtime with luxurious experiences unique to the city. This time around it meant facials at the famed Tracie Martyn Salon. Kate Winslet, Susan Sarandon and countless other starlets swear by this treatment and now we do, too! Take a look at where the pampering happens – – –

When we weren’t at the spa we couldn’t resist getting cuffed – by Chanel that is! Check out the great statement piece Diana picked up – – –

Weekend Trip: Off to Dallas!

This past weekend the Shopping Co. was off again, this time for a quick trip to Dallas!

Among the city’s many shopping destinations is Highland Park Village, which prides itself on being THE venue for “upscale dining and shopping in Dallas”. Chanel, Louboutin, Diane Von Furstenberg, Tory Burch and more, all within beautiful, original 1930’s buildings! We were so there.

And we just had to stop in at Hermes for a souvenir from our excursion!

I ended up with this beautiful green enamel ‘H bracelet’:

Another one of my favorite Dallas spots is designer resale boutique “Clotheshorse Anonymous“. Their motto is “Hunt… Gather… Recycle” and they’ve been helping women do so for nearly 30 years! I can’t say enough good things, so rather than take my word for it, check out their Yelp page and read a few of the raves!

So that’s what we were up to in Dallas! Here’s what we’re up to the next few months:

Great Heights: A Weekend at Spa Miraval

This past weekend I had the privilege of leading a private group to Spa Miraval – a top-rated destination  retreat located in the mountains of northern Tucson. The focus there is “healthy and sustainable living”, so not only did we receive fabulous spa treatments, but we dined well on meals which featured fresh, locally sourced ingredients. In every bite the essence of the region was represented through full, rich flavors that didn’t result from heavy butters or creams.

Another part of the Miraval experience is having the opportunity to engage in activities that “make the heart-pump and the head re-think”. For our intimate group of seven, that meant a zipline adventure through the stunning Santa Catalina Mountains!

The zipline experience was different for each one of us (some cried, others were elated), but what we ultimately took away was more or less the same – an invigorating sense of self-confidence which can only come from challenging yourself to new experiences… and great heights.

Miraval puts it well:

“For most of our guests, the Miraval experience is nothing less than a life-changing and life re-affirming moment.”

P.S. Looking for new reading material? Here’s a peek at what Miraval guests were reading!

Guest speaker Sarah Brokaw shared thoughts from her book "Fourtytude", on turning 40 and making the next decades the best years of your life.

Return to New York (March 2011)

The Shopping Co. couldn’t be happier to be setting foot back in New York! (Was our last trip really in October already?!)

The Shopping Co. in Spice Market's VIP Lounge, Oct. 2010

This time around our trip is unique in that the guest list boasts owners from nine fabulous boutiques and non-profits across the country! Wow – how’s that for being in good company?

Our two day, three night “Buying Trip” will show them the ins and outs of shopping in the Big Apple, and includes an Insider’s Manhattan Shopping Tour, Madison Avenue Window Walk, Evening at Theater, and more!

I’ll be flying out tomorrow (one day early) to put the finishing touches on the trip and make sure all goes smoothly for my guests. Of course, I’ll be squeezing in a little “me time” as well, treating myself to a market fresh taco from La Esquina (Blackbook declared it one of the city’s best hideaways) and people watching in Bryant Park.
